Brief History
The establishment of BAUST Khulna began with the approval in principle on 04 August 2021, followed by the first coordination conference and land selection in November 2021. Key personnel, including the Project Director and Registrar, joined by early 2022, and the first Vice-Chancellor (VC) took office on 15 February 2022. The first Board of Trustees (BOT) meeting was held in February, and by April 2022, the BAUST Khulna Trust was registered, and the institution’s name was finalized. A temporary campus agreement was reached in April, and the project proposal was submitted to the Ministry of Education in May 2022. Throughout 2022, significant steps included scrutiny by the UGC, approval of the temporary campus by the Khulna Development Authority (KDA), and commencement of land purchase for the permanent campus in December. In 2023, BAUST Khulna received formal approval from the Honorable Prime Minister, sent OBE syllabi for six departments to UGC, and occupied the temporary campus. The UGC issued provisional approval on 14 March 2023. The university also signed an MOU with KUET for lab facilities in August 2023, with UGC conducting its second visit in September, and the second Vice-Chancellor joining in October. Academic activities have commenced in the spring semester of 2024.
