As an architect, I always feel responsible for understanding people before thinking about the physical space they inhabit, considering their living and active engagement with it. Contemporary living still faces the dilemma of formal versus informal, permanent versus impermanent, or state versus people’s place. All these efforts have drawn me to research interests in exploring spatial practices and well-being (physical/psychological), production of space, and psychology of living space. I have received three UGC-funded research grants from the university and have led the projects as director.
As a faculty member (Assistant Professor) in the Department of Architecture, KUET and Adjunct faculty member at Bangladesh Army University of Science and Technology Khulna, my foremost responsibilities are teaching sessional theoretical courses, student advising, and thesis supervision. Beyond teaching and learning, I am engaged in various activities, including serving as the secretary (until now) of CRTS (Department of Architecture). I have served in many administrative roles, including as an assistant provost and provost-in-charge of a student accommodation hall. Since 2019, I have been teaching classes as a guest teacher at various public and private universities. My academic contributions include publications in national and international journals and presentations at numerous international conferences. Regularly, I review the articles of the renowned journals (Heritage & Society and JES).
As a member of the CRTS of the Department of Architecture, KUET, I have led various architectural consultancy projects, including the Redesign of Lalon Shah Hall at KUET and the architectural vetting of private projects. Moreover, I lead various architectural projects for departments, including the Department of Fisheries (Fish Fingerling Sales Center, Training Center) and the Water Supply and Sewerage Authority (Riverside Development). At present, I am engaged in many small-scale building projects that help me contribute to the built environment through my sensible design approach.
