We follow an Outcome-Based Education (OBE) Curriculum (as prescribed by the UGC) for our Bachelor of Arts (BA) Honors in English (Undergraduate Program).

Structure of the Curriculum:

a) Duration of the program: 4 years Terms: 4*2=8
b) Admission Requirements:
To be eligible for admission in the BA Honors Program of the Department of English, a student must have completed SSC and HSC (or equivalents) with collective GPA 6.50 and a minimum GPA 3.50. For “A” level students, who have passed 5 subjects in “O” level and 2 subjects in “A” level may also apply for admission. Out of 7 subjects, the students must have B grade/GPA 4.00 in 4 subjects and C grade/GPA 3.50 in rest 3 subjects.

c) Total minimum Credit and CGPA Requirement to Complete the Program:
A minimum number of earned credits also has to be acquired in order to qualify for the degree. They must earn the total credits (140) offered by the department to obtain the degree.

d) Minimum CGPA requirements for graduation:
The minimum CGPA required to obtain a Bachelor’s degree is 2.25 out of 4.

e) Total class weeks in a year/semester:
In a year: 28 weeks (each class of one hour).

In a semester: 14 weeks (each class of one hour). More detailed information is given below.
